ABOUT

The Hawaii FTC Hackathon 2023 is an initiative started by members of Team Magma 3008 to allow local students to get a hands-on experience for the robotics program:  FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC). The Hackathon aims to recreate the immersive experience of an FTC season in just 2 days; uplifting and supporting these up-and-coming teams.

In the 2 day event, attendees will be able to build 1 day robots, play in a small scrimmage with those robots, and receive mentorship from veteran teams through student-led workshops and student ambassadors. We aim to provide all necessary resources such as robot parts, facilities, and tools to help develop their skills and abilities within the exciting field of robotics. Later, these upcoming teams can take home their robot to be able to use in the 2023-2024 season!

First Tech Challenge (FTC), a robotics competition for students in grades 7-12, encourages participation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Initiated by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), FTC allows students to design, build, and program robots for an annual challenge, fostering technical skills, innovation, and teamwork.

FTC's impact transcends technical learning, instilling critical life skills like problem-solving and leadership. It promotes an inclusive, cooperative environment where 'gracious professionalism' balances competition and mutual respect. By making STEM engaging and accessible, FTC helps cultivate future scientists, engineers, and technology leaders.
